About Me


Hi. I'm Madison. I'm a 24-year-old Midwesterner and the voice behind Espresso and Cream.

During the day, I'm a food editor at a large publishing company, which means I think about food most of the time. And at night you can usually find me in the kitchen. I'm a wife to my amazing husband, Joe, exercise junkie, vegetarian, magazine fanatic and a devoted puppy mommy to Nutmeg, our five-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.




This year, I got married to my best friend and the love of my life, Joe. I can't believe how blessed I am to have such a loving, supportive husband who eats anything and everything I cook. Although I am a vegetarian, he most certainly is not. We work things out by being flexible: I cook meat for him and he supports me not eating it.

I firmly believe football is better than shopping. Yoga pants trump jeans. Going without makeup is prettier than being made-up. Eating in is better than dining out. And things that are homemade always taste better than store-bought. 

I was born in Florida and raised most of my life in Iowa, where my mom's side of the family lives. It's given me an appreciation for warm weather and humidity, and empathy for people who live in small towns without specialty grocery stores.

The recipes you find here reflect how I like to eat. Simple food made with quality ingredients, and a whole lot of yum. My recipes are easy to prepare, delicious, and mostly healthy - minus the desserts. Those are just delicious.
